Galmaduwa & Degaldoruwa Viharayas

Galmaduwa Viharaya is a rather curious unfinished edifice stopped due to the discovery of the cave at Degaldoruwa. The lower story of Galmaduwa Viharaya is made of stone while the upper ones are in stone and brick making up seven stories forming a tower (vimana). Degaldoruwa Viharaya contains a reclining Buddha and also has some of the finest Buddhist temple art in Sri Lanka where the jataka stories represents the everyday rural life of the Kandyan peasantry.
