"Descendants of a century old
tradition for maximising the use of water"
Victoria,
Randenigala, Rantambe and Kotmale reservoirs are the results of the massive
development projects for irrigation and hydropower. These colossi dam across
the Mahaweli Ganga (the great sandy river) in beautiful pristine
surroundings continuing in the traditions of the ancient Sri Lankan tank
building civilisation. If one is lucky you might come across some wild
elephants too. A picnic lunch can be arranged or lunch at the Victoria Golf
Course.
