Ceylon is
tea country. An Scotts-man – James Taylor - made a clearing for Tea
(camellia sinensis) in 1867 on his estate named Loolecondera near Kandy and
thus paved the way for one of the island’s main economic sectors. Visit the
tea museum close to Kandy to learn and see more about this brew made from a
bud and two leaves.
Tea did not
only change the landscape of the island, it changed its economy and the
whole society completely.
