The Giant Tea Factories

Ceylon is tea country. An Scotts-man – James Taylor -  made a clearing for Tea (camellia sinensis) in 1867 on his estate named Loolecondera near Kandy and thus paved the way for one of the island’s main economic sectors. Visit the tea museum close to Kandy to learn and see more about this brew made from a bud and two leaves.

Tea did not only change the landscape of the island, it changed its economy and the whole society completely.

Duration of visit:  ˝ day.
