Bicycle Tours from Villa Rosa

You can go on short trips around Villa Rosa – just for fun, or you go out for a day trip or even a few days. Riding through this tropical setting promises some spectacular sights including shady estates, green hill country with lush paddy fields. There are also circular rides that have been designed to make the beautiful temples and fine gardens accessible to more adventurous guests staying out for 2 or 3 nights.

Bicycle riding has a tradition in some parts of the island (north and east) but not in the hill country. So be prepared for a few strange looks from the locals as you coast along. Mountain biking is still quite new in the island, but cycle races on a Sunday morning are quite common. When passing through villages be aware of the local young boys, as they challenge you for a quick sprint and you will not have a chance.

Proper cycle tracks you will not find in Sri Lanka – and also not around Villa Rosa, but with a profusion of dirt roads and paths scatered around the place there is no shortage of destinations to go mountain biking.
